Cocaine Side Effects

The side effects of cocaine vary from user to user, however the long term effects on the brain are the most serious.  Side effects of cocaine can run the gamut from runny nose from snorting, to the tissues in the nose deteriorating over time which can lead to an aperture in the nasal septum often called coke nose.

Cocaine Side EffectsWhen using cocaine the result is constriction of the blood vessels, which can lead to heart and brain conditions.  The result of this constriction leads to a deficiency of oxygen in your body.  This lack of oxygen can lead to blood clots in the intestines, heart and brain.  The consequences of this can lead to strokes, heart attacks, and irregular heartbeat.

When using, the blood pressure soars and your pulse rate increases giving you a buzz.  Herein lies the problem, your vessels constrict and your blood pressure spikes!  Something has to blow at some point and time.

The increased blood pressure can even cause a cerebral hemorrhage, the bursting of the blood vessels and the destruction of brain cells.  This leads to spasmodic paroxysms, permanent paralysis and sometimes death.  In the least cocaine side effects will be in the ability to concentrate, reduction of memory, and the ability to learn quickly.

Cocaine can also over a long time lead to ringing in the ears and the body will have little ability to relax (will have the shakes).

Cocaine short term effects while high are not only the tingly creepy crawly skin effect from the increased pulse rate and the high blood pressure spike, but also high body temperature, dry mouth and expanded pupils.  Because of these effects it leads to a loss of appetite, which leads to weight loss, dehydration and digestive troubles.  Many cocaine addicts end up with serious diarrhea problems, not to mention kidney and liver problems.

This is why you see so many users who seem to just dry up and wilt away.  This is just what they are doing, the dehydration kicks in along with no appetite and they just shrivel up.

Just think about it, if your body shrinks up … what does your brain do?

Cocaine and any other narcotic will lead to a change of personality.  Users become insensitive, aggressive and superficial.  When the loss of appetite and the dehydration lead to exhaustion, the capability to function declines to a point where many loose their job and families.  When you feel or see the symptoms of cocaine use become prevalent, start seeking help to overcome the addiction.
